Step-by-Step Guide: How to Port/Retain Your Phone Number
Updated over 8 months ago

Number portability empowers you to switch network providers while retaining your existing phone number. Follow these straightforward steps utilizing the SIM card associated with the number you wish to port:

  1. Acquire a PIN Code:

  • Dial 051 or send a text message containing the word "NIP" to the same number. You'll receive a unique code.

2. Submit Your Request through the Application:

  • Launch your application and opt for the "Request Portability" feature from the dropdown menu located in the top left corner.

Input the following details:

  1. The NIP obtained by contacting 051.

  2. Your CURP (required for fraud prevention).

  3. The phone number you wish to port.

  4. The phone number linked to your new SIM card.

3. Troubleshooting:

In case of any issues during the portability request, reach out for assistance by sending an email to ayuda@oxio.com.

Once the porting process commences, you can continue using your existing number. Within 24-48 hours, the transfer will finalize, enabling you to utilize your number seamlessly on your new SIM card.

4. Important Considerations:

  • If you're under contract with your current provider, verify any early cancellation fees.

  • Note that some companies may withhold phone lines despite the absence of outstanding debts or obligations.

  • To transition your number to prepaid mode and safeguard it from being lost, contact your provider:

  1. Telcel: Dial *111.

  2. AT&T: Dial *611.

  3. Movistar: Dial *612.
